Good Gai at Thai Supermarket Aperia Mall has the best Thai fried chicken in town…at least that’s what their shirts say!

This new fried chicken concept is a culinary partnership between the team behind Thai Supermarket and Folks Collective. It operates as a takeaway kiosk, where diners can easily order and go.

Mark your calendars stat: Good Gai is slated for launch on Dec 1.

As part of its grand opening, this fried chicken maestro is rolling out a toothsome promotion that will run throughout the entire month of December, until Dec 31.

For an affordable price of S$10 (U.P $13.80), diners can bag a signature Hatyai chicken cutlet and signature Thai fried chicken cutlet home — both of which are the stars of its menu.

Note that Good Gai will be closed every Monday until Dec 19. Stay tuned to its Instagram page for updates on its opening hours.

Good Gai (a play on “kuk gai”, which translates to chicken in Thai) prides itself on crispy fried chicken that’s prepared with their housemade Thai blends.

The menu is kept lean, with only four items on the menu: Signature Hatyai chicken cutlet (S$6.90), signature Thai fried chicken cutlet (S$6.90), signature Hatyai chicken winglets and signature Thai chicken winglets.

The signature Hatyai chicken winglets dish is our favourite of the lot. At first look, the platter features five incredibly succulent morsels that are fried to a golden-brown perfection.

It looks and tastes sublime too, with the key ingredient being its herb and spice marinade that has been prepared for 48 hours. The recipe is made with a mixture of flour, cumin powder, coriander roots, and seeds, as well as a secret batter with fish sauce.

The end result? Hearty fried chicken winglets layered with peppery, herbaceous notes. They’re also topped with fried shallots for extra crunch.

You can order five pieces of the winglets for S$6.90, or grab it in a bundle of 20 at S$22.90.

Coated in the same secret batter, the Hatyai Thai fried chicken cutlet is another tasty item that you mustn’t miss. It touts thin, crisp skin atop juicy, boneless chicken thigh meat. The skin pulls away from the meat effortlessly and the latter is its melt-in-your-mouth tender

The serving size is generous, so it’s best to share this dish with a friend or two!

Should you enjoy more classic flavours, the signature Thai fried chicken winglets will entice your tastebuds.

As we’ve come to expect from Good Gai’s chicken wares, the meat falls off the bone nicely and the skin has a delicious crunch to it.

For a taste of the traditional, you can savour the signature Thai fried chicken cutlet, which features a tantalising blend of spices and rich flavours. The skin is seasoned beautifully, which will undoubtedly have you reaching for a second piece.

Pair the fried chicken with the accompanying homemade sweet chilli sauce for a spritely, tangy kick. Alternatively, you can top up a dollar for a plate of Thai glutinous rice to complete the round out the meal.

This was a hosted tasting.
