With the jolliest time of the year just around the corner, your weekends (and weekdays, too) are probably packed with exciting Christmas celebrations and merry-making — we know ours is, at least!
And if you’re hosting this season, it’s time to get the tree ready, wrap the presents and get your festive takeaway orders in — you’d want to be fully prepared for when your guests arrive!
When it comes to laying out a luscious, drool-worthy spread, every dinner table needs its very own dessert centrepiece that will entice at first sight — we’re not just talking about traditional, run-of-the-mill log cakes, but elevated sweet treats spruced up with exquisite details.
To make things easier for that frantic festive rush, we’ve compiled a list of restaurants and patisseries that have pulled out all the stops to create some of the most elaborate, show-stopping Christmas desserts in 2024. If any catches your eye, be sure to head to their respective websites and place your orders, stat!
1. Alice Boulangerie’s Alice’s Christmas cake
Artisanal French bakery and restaurant, Alice Boulangerie, always astounds with its picturesque treats — croissants, cakes and all. Its festive offerings, which are often decked in vibrant holiday colours, or adorned with the brand’s signature squirrel mascot, are no exception.
This year, it has outdone itself with its limited-edition log cake: Alice’s Christmas cake (S$108). Dare we say, it’s even more intricate than the previous year’s version, which was a decadent chocolate cake adorned with a fluffy 3D squirrel.
Alice’s Christmas cake is a novel riff on yule logs, crafted after a charming silhouette of a train. Every slice is a harmonious symphony of flavours that combines luscious hazelnut pound cake, rich orange-infused Guanaja 70% dark chocolate mousse and caramelised praline.
How to order? Until December 21, pre-order Alice’s Christmas cake via Alice Boulangerie’s website here. Opt to have the dessert delivered, or self-collect it at its outlet in Icon Village.
2. Da Paolo’s pistachio raspberry log cake
For those craving comfort flavours in their Christmas desserts, established Italian restaurant, Da Paolo, has a trio of tantalising yule logs up its sleeve: It showcases tried-and-true flavours, such as chocolate, strawberry and pistachio, albeit elevated with a tangy or creamy twist.
The pistachio raspberry log cake (S$108) is a personal favourite of ours, and it also happens to be a bestseller at Da Paolo. Understandably so, with its pastel hues featuring swirls of tangy raspberry jam, pillowy pistachio sponge, and crunchy pistachio nuts.
Every bite bursts with a nutty, earthy flavour, made all the more delicious with layers of pistachio buttercream that melt in your mouth.
How to order? Pre-order the pistachio raspberry log cake via Da Paolo’s website here from now till December 31. Opt to have the dessert delivered (with a lead time of three days before 12pm), or self-collect it at any of its outlets.
3. Paul’s Magic Christmas raspberry baubles
If you’re looking for Christmas desserts that are bite-sized and light on the palate (so your guests have enough tummy space for more feasting), there’s the dainty Magic Christmas raspberry baubles (S$42 for a box of eight) from Paul — a new creation this year by the bakery.
Intended to be a canape, the Magic Christmas raspberry baubles are layered with decadent pistachio custard and raspberry cremeux. They’re then encased in an ornate white chocolate shell — almost like a glasshouse — and dusted with snowflakes for that magical, wintery touch.
4. Paul’s kopi creme brulee traditional log cake
It’s a wintery affair with Paul’s kopi creme brulee traditional log cake (from S$39 for a small cake), yet another new festive offering by the homegrown bakery. It’s the perfect alternative if you’re not a fan of the typical chocolate-filled log cakes out there. Paul’s version is also an eye-catching dessert that’s fully decked in white chocolate frosting, as if it’s covered in snow.
Cut into the cake, and the inside reveals a rich, velvety caramel ganache and silky white coffee chantilly cream. The coffee notes are light and fragrant, just enough to add a pinch of nuttiness to the dessert.
5. Paul’s mini mont blanc tartlets
There might not be chestnuts roasting on an open fire at your Christmas party but you can set the table with Paul’s mini mont blanc tartlets (S$42 for a box of eight) to impress your loved ones — these petite confections come with a roasted chestnut paste nestled in a buttery tartlet shell.
When we savoured the mini mont blanc tartlets for the first time, we took to its full-bodied flavour immediately, and could taste the fragrance of the roasted chestnuts with every mouthful of this Christmas dessert.
The swirls of almond and chantilly cream (sprinkled in snowy powder and gold leaves for a majestic finish), and a dollop of chestnut puree also add a smooth, buttery flavour that makes these little bites quite irresistible indeed.
How to order? You can pre-order any of the above Christmas desserts via Paul’s website here till December 29. Opt to have the treats delivered, or self-collect them at any of its outlets (except at Changi Airport Terminal 1).
6. Aimer La Patisserie’s banana Chocoholic square cake
Homegrown brand, Aimer La Patisserie (which means “Love Pastry” in French), has a series of festive square cakes that are sure to tickle your taste buds. Handcrafted by France-trained chef Kristina Li, the Christmas square cake lineup sees mouthwatering flavours such as chocolate, pink jasmine and bananas with chocolate.
Our pick, the banana Chocoholic (S$98), is an irresistible combination of chocolate and bananas that simply looks almost too good to eat. It comprises a luscious banana passionfruit cream layer, followed by a rich banana caramel and chocolate mousse. On the base is a crunchy chocolate sable, which adds some crisp to the dessert.
How to order? Pre-order the banana Chocoholic via Aimer La Patisserie’s website here till December 31. Opt to have the dessert delivered, or self-collect it at its outlet in Aperia Mall.
7. Janice Wong’s yule log
Usher in the festivities with the yule log (S$118) from award-winning chocolatier, Janice Wong. It’s a vibrant, red-hued treat (and also one of the newest in her collection) that’s bound to draw glances from the get-go — right from the moment your guests step into your home.
Crafted from a light and delicate chestnut mousse, the yule log comprises a rich brownie base, chantilly cream and crispy feuilletine. Inside, it’s filled with a tart redcurrant compote that adds a refreshing layer of zestiness to the delectable dessert.
8. Janice Wong’s chocolate bonbons with an advent calendar
Janice Wong’s colourful chocolate bonbons (S$118 for a box of 25) are guaranteed to be a show-stopper at any celebration with their pastel hues and artistic designs. The bonbons come in all shapes, colours, and flavours — sweet-toothed or not, you’re bound to fancy a flavour or two.
What sets this set of chocolate bonbons apart from other Christmas desserts is that it comes with a Christmas advent calendar, so your guests can savour 25 different chocolates while counting down till Christmas. The set is also stocked with fan-favourite flavours such as milk tea and chilli padi, as well as new festive offerings such as cashew praline and pistachio candy cane.
How to order? Pre-order the Christmas desserts via Janice Wong’s website here, available till December 31 or till sold out. Opt to have them delivered, or self-collect them at its outlet in Paragon Shopping Centre.
9. Mr Bucket Chocolaterie’s s’mores kit
If you’d like to get Christmas desserts that are a tad more hands-on (and interactive), then you’ll probably appreciate Mr Bucket Chocolaterie’s s’mores kit (S$38) — especially if you have a grill at home (or even a fireplace, who knows!).
The set comprises two tealight candles (a convenient substitute for a fireplace), a dark chocolate bar, nine pieces of fluffy marshmallows, a mini sea salt tub and skewers. You can also grab a couple of your favourite crispy crackers from your pantry to pair with the s’mores!
No matter the outcome of this fun and unique experience, we’re sure you and your loved ones will have fun toasting marshmallows by the “fireplace”, even in Singapore!
10. Mr Bucket Chocolaterie’s Christmas tree assembly kit
If s’mores don’t quite tickle your fancy, check out the other new item, Mr Bucket Chocolaterie’s fun Christmas tree assembly kit (S$75), where you can gather your loved ones around and build a 3D chocolate tree together.
As its name suggests, the kit comes with pre-moulded chocolate pieces that you can assemble to form a stunning chocolate-themed tree — we can already tell that the younger ones at the party will love this!
If you don’t mind splurging a little more, you can even get your guests a kit of their own each. Or, if you’re still thinking of a suitable gift for an upcoming Secret Santa exchange, this would make a great present as well.
How to order? Pre-order the Christmas desserts via Mr Bucket Chocolaterie’s website here until December 31. Opt to have them delivered, or self-collect them at its outlet in Dempsey Hill.
11. Dolcetto’s Winter Ruby
If you’re done with conventional log cakes, Dolcetto at Conrad Singapore Orchard has rolled out a pretty intriguing dessert. The Winter Ruby (from S$76 for a medium cake) is prepared with an ingredient that we’d never expect in a log cake: Bacon.
The Winter Ruby is a creamy treat that exudes opulence, with a silky chocolate sponge base, sinful Komuntu chocolate cremeux and mousse. Making it unique is the bits of smoky, savoury bacon layered within the dessert, which balances out the richness of the cake. It’s topped off with maple-glazed pecan nuts for a textural crunch.
How to order? Pre-order the Winter Ruby via Dolcetto’s website here till January 1, 2025. Opt to have it delivered, or self-collect at its outlet in Conrad Singapore Orchard.
12. Acqua e Farina’s panettone
We had to sneak this one in — Acqua e Farina’s classic panettone (S$56) is a staple for those who are sticklers for tradition. Studded with candied fruits — simple as the way it should be — it’s the perfect dessert to end the festive celebration on a sweet note.
Made with a traditional recipe, the panettone dough is left to rise for 72 hours resulting in a light and spongy body. Upon cutting into the fluffy dessert, the fragrant scent of butter wafts in the air — it will whet your appetite from the get-go.
How to order? Order the panettone via Acqua e Farina’s website here, or purchase it in-stores (while stocks last). If you’re ordering online, opt to have it delivered, or self-collect it at any of its outlets.
