Popular bagel spot Keen’s Bagelry moves to Asia Square
Have you heard the news? The insanely popular Keen’s Bagelry has just moved to a new location, at Asia Square!
Bagel lovers would definitely know about Keen’s Bagelry, which was originally located inside Curbside Crafters, a curated lifestyle market located in the Kampong Glam area.
Touted by many on social media as one of the best bagel shops in Singapore, it was often besieged by long queues and often sold out around 1.30pm.
But all good things came to an end with the brand bidding adieu to Curbside Crafters on Dec 27, 2023.
After a short hiatus, the team eventually returned in March with Keen’s Bagelry moving into Asia Square Tower 2.
As with before, it operates only as a takeaway kiosk.
Unlike at Curbside Crafters, though, Asia Square provides a myriad of free seating all around the compound — it’s so much easier to score yourself a seat now.
Same ol’ good bagels
So how has the move to Asia Square affected Keen’s Bagelry? There’s not much difference in Keen’s Bagelry’s menu.
Having tried some of its best-sellers at the Kampong Glam location, we ordered the same to have a comparison.
The first had to be the Loxu (S$16), its take on the classic lox bagel that usually comprises an ensemble of smoked salmon, capers, red onions, and cream cheese.
To me, Keen’s Bagelry makes one of the best lox bagels in Singapore. It just hits every note: Silky and smoky salmon, rich cream cheese with a nice touch of capers and onion acidity. So clean but still nicely flavourful.
But any Keen’s Bagelry fan would tell you that the highlight here has to be its scrambled eggs. There are a few combinations with it, but we opted for the Hashstack (S$13).
This one is the ultimate breakfast sandwich, crammed full of hash brown, Hokkaido milk scrambled eggs, gouda, and house-made white truffle mayo.
While we think there could be more truffle aroma, the hearty combination of plush, pillowy scrambled eggs and fluffy hash browns were more than enough to satisfy.
We also opted for the Kaiju (S$15.50), a new item on the Keen’s Bagelry menu.
This behemoth is stacked up with egg mayo, gouda, house-salad, tomatoes, house-made spicy garlic aioli, and one hefty house-battered fried chicken patty.
This was decent and very heavy in flavours but unfortunately, the chicken skewed a little too dry, throwing off the balance of the sandwich.
If those don’t suit your palate, there are also popular options such as the truffle garlic Chickin (S$13.50) with oven-baked house-marinated chicken leg, gouda and salad, or Hammydinger (S$14) with turkey and chicken ham, scallion cream cheese, house salad, tomatoes and avocado.
Keen’s Baglery also hasn’t forgotten the vegetarians, including the Avocuddle (S$15), which comes with a wholesome glut of avocado, sauteed mushrooms, sunny side-up, tomatoes, gouda and house-made garlic aioli!
