Still Cafe is a new hideout in Ang Mo Kio for speciality coffee, matcha, and homemade bagels
The number of underrated heartland spots just keeps growing — and honestly, we’re absolutely here for it. It’s another excuse to put those CDC vouchers to good use!
Joining the likes of The Weirdoughs in Serangoon, Fuego Masa in Farrer Park, and Sin & Savage Bakehouse in Queenstown is Still Cafe, the latest cosy addition to Ang Mo Kio.

Still Cafe opened its doors in Ang Mo Kio in June, but the concept has been around since 2024. Founder Sarah Ang, 37, ran the business from her home in Canberra, specialising in speciality coffee, matcha, and cold brew.
The opportunity for a brick-and-mortar concept came when Monday Coffee Bar put out a call on social media for someone to take over its premises.

Still Cafe in Ang Mo Kio is dotted with the brand’s signature shade of blue — a colour that symbolises relaxation — and reflects Sarah’s hope that every guest can slow down and enjoy the little moments over a cuppa.
Sarah also retained much of Monday Coffee Bar’s existing furniture and layout, allowing the space’s cosy charm to live on, along with Still Cafe’s own touches.

The bigger space has made room for the menu to grow. Besides its signature offerings, Still Cafe now serves freshly made bagels.
Look a little closer and you’ll notice an adorable detail: Each bagel is stamped with a tiny cat face — a sweet nod to Sarah’s two beloved cats at home.

The feline theme doesn’t end there. Sarah has designed a range of exclusive cat-themed merchandise, including a tote bag (S$24.90), money pouch (S$8.90), and stickers (S$2 each).
If you’re after your daily caffeine fix, or somewhere to be productive during your work-from-home days, Still Cafe is a reliable go-to, especially if you live around the Ang Mo Kio ‘hood.

Matcha may be a staple at almost every cafe these days, but Still Cafe gives the ever-popular drink a refreshing spin with its iced earl grey matcha latte (S$7.50).
The housemade earl grey syrup, which is not too sweet, brings a mild floral fragrance that complements the matcha’s earthy profile.
Granted, the flavours are not as intensely bold as some purists might prefer. But if you’re after a lighter, more delicate blend, go for this one.

For those who can’t decide between coffee and matcha, the hot Dirty matcha (S$7) brings the best of both worlds.
What stood out to us was how balanced the drink turned out to be — the espresso adds a roasted depth, while the matcha softens the coffee’s harsh bitterness.
Alongside its caffeinated offerings, the neighbourhood cafe serves kid-friendly drinks such as iced chocolate (S$6.50) and Babyccino (S$2.50).

If you’re someone who takes your bagels seriously, you’d want to try Still Cafe’s rendition, which is baked fresh in-house.
We tried the sesame bagel (S$4.50), featuring a coating of sesame seeds on its underside. For an extra S$1, you can pair it with the housemade cream cheese dip — it’s slightly sweetened, yet light in texture.
Bagel preferences are subjective, but my ideal one should have a lightly crisp crust that gives way to a soft, yet satisfyingly chewy interior.
Safe to say, Still Cafe’s one ticks all the right boxes. Each bite offers just the right amount of chew without being overly dense, while the centre stays pleasantly pillowy.

Meanwhile, the cinnamon cranberry bagel (S$4.50) is a tad sweeter, thanks to the dried cranberries that add bursts of sweetness and a gentle tang.
We paired ours with the pistachio cream cheese for an extra S$2, which gives it a subtle nutty finish. It’s a limited-time offering, but Sarah shared that she’s still refining the recipe and hopes to bring it back if it becomes popular with customers.
As an eastie, Ang Mo Kio isn’t a neighbourhood I visit often. But if I lived nearby, Still Cafe would easily be one of my go-to spots — whether it’s for a quick pick-me-up, a catch-up with friends, or a quiet afternoon from the crowds.
