Affordable and tasty: Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore 2024 revealed with 11 new entries
Looking for somewhere affordable and tasty for the weekend? Oh, do we have the list for you — the list of Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore 2024 awardees!
Most foodies would be well acquainted with the world-renowned Michelin Guide which was first started in 1900 to cover the best eats across France.
Today, the Michelin Guide covers the most prestigious restaurants all around the world, as it dives into the biggest metropolitan areas, spanning cities such as Tokyo, Seoul, London and New York City.
Since 1962, the best restaurants — and sometimes, hawker stalls — have been awarded Michelin stars to recognise their grit and dedication to providing the best dining experiences to food lovers all over the world.
On the other hand, the Michelin Bib Gourmand is a separate award that was introduced in 1997, meant to highlight “exceptionally good food at moderate prices“.
The very nature of the award meant that many of our city’s popular hawker haunts were spotlighted when the Michelin Guide eventually found its way to Singapore in 2016, making up the bulk of the entries.
2024’s best-value eats
The Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore 2024 announcement sees 81 F&B establishments in our city being recognised for their value and tastiness and includes 11 new entrants.
The new entrants are as follows:
- Jalan Sultan Prawn Mee
- Ru Ji Kitchen
- Chef Kang’s Noodle House
- Delhi Lahori
- Fico
- Han Kee
- Jason Penang Cuisine
- Margaret Drive Sin Kee Chicken Rice
- MP Thai (Vision Exchange)
- Song Fish Soup
- Zhup Zhup by One Prawn & Co
The list includes some well-known hawker icons such as Amoy Street’s legendary fish soup Han Kee — usually mobbed by crazy lunch crowds — and Chef Kang’s Noodle House, a wanton mee stall started by the mastermind behind Michelin-starred Chef Kang’s Private Kitchen, which previously appeared on the 2019 and 2021 lists.
Zhup Zhup also makes a return to the Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore 2024 list as the prawn noodle expert (formerly known as One Prawn & Co) underwent a rebrand since clinching the award in 2023.
However, the awardees are not limited to just hawker stalls as two new standalone restaurants have also been recognised as part of the Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore list for 2024.
The first is Fico, a much-lauded Italian restaurant with the most splendid seaside views at East Coast Park. The other is MP Thai at Vision Exchange that is known for its affordable, authentic and tasty Thai grub at great prices.
Following tradition, the Michelin Bib Gourmand is usually announced before the Michelin Guide — yes, the part where we see who gets how many stars — is released in full.
Watch out for that — it’s slated to be unveiled on Jun 25.
