The festive season is just around the corner and if you’re searching for a homely zi char-style restaurant to treat your loved ones to, look no further.

Restaurant stalwart KEK (Keng Eng Kee) Seafood has unveiled its third (and most photo-worthy) outlet at Safra Punggol. The 160-seater establishment is slated for launch in mid-January.

Unlike its other two outlets at Tampines and Alexandra Village, KEK Seafood’s newest Punggol outpost is designed to reflect its storied history of serving fresh, delectable seafood dishes to locals in Singapore.

It’s built on an endearing concept of food prepared “for Singaporeans, by Singaporeans”, so it’s uniquely designed to showcase well-loved local motifs that Singaporeans are all too familiar with — making them feel right at home.

Photo-worthy spots not to be missed

Fashioned after everyday scenes in Singapore, KEK Seafood’s Punggol outpost boasts a quirky, photo-worthy interior that captures our urban landscape, with whimsical fittings such as a nostalgic 1980s bus stop, an ERP gantry and a double-take-worthy entrance inspired by Punggol’s MRT platform.

Rest assured you won’t get lost in the dizzying array of decorations here. You’ll be pointed in the right direction by the road signs painted on its tarmac floors — just like on our beloved expressways.

Outlet-exclusive dishes and other classic staples

KEK Seafood is also doling out a number of tasty outlet-exclusive dishes at Safra Punggol.

There’s the grilled assorted seafood with KEK homemade sauce (S$32.80), which features fresh tiger prawns, clams, mushrooms, and vermicelli. The dish is then drenched in its aromatic homemade gravy, which packs a savoury punch.

Head on a textural adventure with its sizzling claypot moonlight hor fun (S$15.80). Luscious seafood horfun is dressed up with Chinese sausages, juicy prawns, sliced fish and a glistening moon-like raw egg.

Other classic staples to look forward to are the crowd-favourite coffee pork ribs (S$18.80) and silky claypot pig liver (S$21.80).
