16 Singapore restaurants in Black Pearl Restaurant Guide 2025, with five new entrants

The Michelin Guide is a household name for many of us, but have you heard of the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide?
Come April 25, the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide Award Ceremony 2025 for Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and overseas regions, will be taking place for the first time outside of China, right here in Singapore itself.
Slated to be held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, this award ceremony will see the gathering of renowned chefs, industry experts, as well as culinary enthusiasts from the region.
This year, a total of 370 restaurants — across 31 cities in China and three overseas cities (Singapore, Tokyo, and Bangkok) — are recognised for their culinary excellence.

What is the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide about?
The Black Pearl Restaurant Guide, which first came about in 2018, was started by e-commerce company Meituan in a bid to showcase the best of Asian fine-dining through a Chinese lens.
Often touted as the Chinese version of the Michelin Guide, the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide not only shines a spotlight on Chinese cuisine and experiences in China, but also features overseas restaurants that are aligned with the palates of Chinese consumers.
Similar to the Michelin Guide, restaurants in the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide are categorised into three levels — “One Diamond” for places you should dine at on occasions, “Two Diamonds” for those you should head to for anniversaries, and “Three Diamonds” for a once-in-a-lifetime meal — with the last being the highest level.

The Black Pearl Restaurant Guide evaluates restaurants anonymously through a panel of judges, looking at factors such as the preservation of traditional culinary skills, and the chefs’ creativity and innovation in the use of ingredients and cooking techniques.
Not only is the evaluation process rigorous, but Meituan also utilises big data to support these results, and verifies them with various notary agencies to ensure the fairness of the results.
The award ceremony on April 25 at Marina Bay Sands is slated to end on a culinary high — a 10-hands collaboration gala dinner with chefs from Shanghai, Macau, as well as Singapore’s Cut by Wolfgang Puck, and Waku Ghin by Testsuya Wakuda.
