We all know Singaporeans are huge foodies — we love to hunt for the newest openings, queue for famous hawker stalls and uncover “hidden gems”.

With everyone so in love with eating, sometimes we wonder what the most popular food in Singapore actually is.

While we don’t have stats from any official nationwide census (though as foodies, we really think there should be one in the future), GrabFood’s latest food trends round-up from 2024 gives us an inkling of everyone’s inclinations.

It was clear that there was one overwhelmingly popular standout, which also took the top spot in 2023.

Everyone loves burgers

Burgers retained their spot as the No. 1 most-delivered food in Singapore and were also the most-consistently ordered item throughout the day.

They were among the most-ordered items for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper on GrabFood. It was only during tea-time that people didn’t quite have an appetite for burgers, opting for items such as pies, nuggets and pizza instead.

That said, we suspect it’s not much the artisanal burgers that are getting the love.

Rather, it’s probably the no-frills, fast food-types that propelled this item to the top of the delivery charts. And we can see why, especially in fast-paced Singapore.

With carbs, veggies and protein all in one compact package, burgers are just insanely satisfying at any time of the day, and especially for a late-night indulgence.

Of course, burgers weren’t all that Singaporeans loved ordering in 2024.

Overall, these are the top 10 most craved items for food delivery in Singapore in 2024, according to a recent food trend report by GrabFood.

  1. Burger
  2. Fried chicken
  3. Milk tea
  4. Fried rice
  5. Prata
  6. Chicken rice
  7. Nuggets
  8. Porridge
  9. Pizza
  10. Coconut Shake

Notably, items such as fried chicken (from No. 6 in 2023 to No. 2 in 2024), milk tea (from unranked to No. 3) and fried rice (No. 10 to No. 4) had a huge surge in popularity.

Huh, who woulda guessed that milk tea wasn’t even on the list in 2023?

We still love hawker food

While the stats might suggest that items such as burgers and fried chicken are highly sought after, hawker food is still very much well loved by those in Singapore.

For example, there were almost 1.9 million plates of nasi lemak sold on the platform in 2024, working out to four plates being ordered every minute.

The stats also revealed some interesting results about some of the most heavily debated and popular food items in Singapore: Chicken rice and roti prata.

There’s always a sense of tribalism when it comes to popular dishes — whether it is black vs. white for carrot cake, or soupy vs. dry bak chor mee

And one of the biggest points of contention among chicken rice lovers is steamed vs. roasted chicken rice.

Well, poached chicken lovers get the bragging rights because 55% of those who ordered chicken rice off GrabFood opted for steamed white chicken!

As for the wonderfully diverse roti prata, we found out that out of the myriad permutations, plain still reigns supreme, while egg and cheese follow at second and third.

Interesting, right? What do you think will make it to the list of the most-ordered food for 2025?
