If you haven’t paid a visit to viral Coffee Break yet, consider this your sign. This beloved family-run business, best known for its modern spin on traditional kopi and teh, has expanded — opening its third outlet at Holland Drive Market & Food Drive earlier this year. Plus, the prices make it an affordable lunch pick-me-up.

Coffee Break is where tradition meets innovation. While it preserves the charm of old-school kopi culture, it’s not afraid to get creative. Its menu is a testament to this, offering new flavours in classic drinks and bites.

With new items always brewing, the Holland Drive outlet is worth a visit — whether you’re craving comforting classics or curious to try something new.

A sip of heritage

Coffee Break’s story is steeped in legacy. Originally founded by their grandfather, Sua, the humble coffee stall is now under the care of three siblings — Jack, Anna, and Faye — who are now the third generation to run it.

Each sibling plays a role: one at Market Street Hawker Centre outlet, another Amoy Street Food Centre, while Jack is primarily at the newest location: Holland Drive Market and Food Centre. Their commitment to quality, craft, and innovation keeps Coffee Break a standout in Singapore’s vibrant hawker scene.

What’s new at Holland Drive

Jack tells us the team is always experimenting, researching, and refining the menu — with hopes of introducing more unique flavours and combinations to come. Given how wide-ranging its current offerings already are, that is definitely something to look forward to.

Besides Coffee Break’s usual offerings of kopi and teh, its latest outlets also sees some new additions.

This includes the iced pear white tea (S$3.80). Light, floral, and gently refreshing, it’s a delightful pick-me-up — especially for those hoping to cut down on caffeine. It’s not overly sweet, and ideal for humid afternoons.

Also on our radar is the lemon curd toast (S$3.50) — a zesty lemon jam-based bread.

Waffles and toasts

Waffles and savoury toasts are available only at the Holland Drive and Market Street outlets — making them a little more special.

We tried the kaya butter waffle (S$4.50), and it did not disappoint. Think of your classic kaya toast, but made even more indulgent. The waffle is crisp, yet fluffy, and generously layered with kaya and butter. It’s the kind of treat that would make your day.

The matcha coconut toast (S$3.50) was another standout. It was unexpectedly addictive, balancing its earthy matcha with creamy butter, all while letting the coconut’s mellow sweetness shine. Each bite offered a satisfying blend of flavours.

A current crowd favourite is the black sesame toast (S$3.50) — rich, nutty, and comforting. If you’re a fan of that deep sesame flavour, this one’s for you.

Jack hints at a possible launch of Shirogoma, a white sesame-based toast — another crunchy, equally indulgent snack. It is a flavour to keep an eye out for, especially if you like your sweets on the nuttier side.

The Coffee Break at Holland Drive closes at 2.30pm. So if you’re in the area during lunch, don’t miss the chance to try some of these new and exclusive treats.
