Popular cafe-bistro Cafe Kitsune opens second branch at Jewel Changi, with outlet-exclusives

Cafe enthusiasts, this one’s for you: The cult-favourite Cafe Kitsune has unveiled its second Singapore outpost — and it’s right in the heart of Jewel Changi.

Launched by lifestyle brand Maison Kitsune from Paris, France, Cafe Kitsune has been serving up expertly crafted matcha and speciality coffee since 2014.

Today, the French-Japanese cafe has grown into a global name with 35 locations across cities, including Tokyo, Seoul, and London.

Just like its maiden outlet at Capitol Singapore, the Jewel Changi branch keeps the interior clean and minimalist, but with a fresh twist.

The design of the new cafe is said to draw on the design of a traditional Japanese pagoda, but with modern touches — wooden accents, lush greenery, and a wholesome, zen vibe — something you might not expect within a buzzing modern airport mall.

Woven bistro chairs in classic black, red, and white add a chic European flair, too — all in all, it comes together as a cosy spot to grab a matcha latte or catch your breath between flights.

This outlet also has a retail section with Jewel-exclusive merchandise up for grabs, such as tote bags (S$60), coffee mugs (S$50), and tumblers (S$55).

If you’ve already been to Cafe Kitsune’s Capitol outpost, you’ll realise that there are new items added to Cafe Kitsune’s Jewel Changi menu.

This includes a dedicated brunch menu served daily from 9am to 5pm, plus a selection of exclusive dishes.

A classic option for a hearty pick-me-up is the smoked salmon eggs benedict (S$18) — a comforting combo of sauteed spinach, smoked salmon, and perfectly poached eggs topped with creamy hollandaise sauce.

The yolk is runny and rich, just as it should be, and the hollandaise sauce adds a velvety touch — though its tangy kick does become more pronounced the further you dig in.

Other brunch specials include the scrambled eggs and toast (S$12) and French toast (S$14).

Trust us, the pandan coconut entremet is a must-have! Photos: Shannon Yap/HungryGoWhere

Out of Cafe Kitsune’s tempting spread of viennoiseries and French desserts, the pandan coconut entremet (S$13.50) has our hearts — this multi-layered beauty delivers both on flavour and texture.

It tastes like a posh take on the old-school pandan kaya cake — smooth, creamy, and oh-so-comforting. Every bite is a mix of light, luscious layers with just the right hit of pandan and coconut.

There’s also the eye-catching, fox-shaped Cafe Kitsune Singapore shortbread (S$4) that is buttery, crisp, and easy to eat — and adorably shaped to match the cafe’s mascot.

I’m usually a latte drinker, but this sparkling grapefruit espresso (right) was surprisingly good. Photo: Shannon Yap/HungryGoWhere

And of course, no visit would be complete without trying Cafe Kitsune’s Instagram-worthy signature drinks (both S$8) — there’s the jasmine grapefruit with sea salt cream and sparkling grapefruit espresso.

Between the two, the latter easily takes the crown. It’s bright, and refreshingly balanced, with a beautiful blend of bitterness and citrusy notes — perfect for beating the heat.

Unfortunately, the flavours of the jasmine grapefruit with sea salt cream felt a little disjointed, and the elements didn’t come together as smoothly as we’d hoped. That aside, this drink would be a good pick for those with a penchant for floral-infused flavours.

Beverage staples such as latte (S$7), matcha latte (S$7), and iced matcha strawberry (S$7.50) are available, too.
