A first look at 1-Alfaro by Monti: New rooftop Italian dining spot with stunning sea views

Perched atop Labrador Tower in Pasir Panjang, 1-Alfaro is the latest venture from the prolific 1-Group — the same folks behind picturesque dining destinations such as 1-Flowerhill, Sol & Ora and Monti.
With sweeping views of our sunny island and a refined Italian menu, this new rooftop dining spot looks pretty much set to become a go-to for special date nights and occasions!
Much like its sister concepts — Botanico @SummerHouse and 1-Arden Bar — 1-Alfaro blends culinary flair with scenic charm.

Singapore has many restaurants with gorgeous views, but not many of them are nestled in among industrial buildings and offices like 1-Alfaro is –- an underrated spot with a surprising view.
Boasting a panoramic view of Singapore’s southern shores, it sits on the 34th floor of Labrador Tower and is fittingly named after the Italian word for lighthouse, given that it overlooks Pasir Panjang Terminal.

In true northern Italian spirit — specifically from the Emilia-Romagna region — 1-Alfaro’s menu is a tribute to its famed produce and artisanal products, such as parmigiano reggiano, prosciutto di Parma, and many more.
Beyond food, it’s the Italian philosophy of duality that shines. 1-Alfaro is home to two distinct, yet harmonious concepts — Italian restaurant La Torre, and La Luna, an al fresco rooftop bar that’s perfect for aperitivos under the sky.
La Torre: Northern Italian flavours with modern flair

Led by chefs Felix Chong and Alessandro Giustteti, La Torre’s menu stays rooted in Emilia-Romagna’s culinary heritage, spruced up with a modern twist.
It’s crafted for sharing and invites diners to experience regional flavours in a fresh, convivial way, set against the backdrop of a cosy, intimate space.
Warm gold and deep maroon accents add a touch of vintage charm to the dining experience, and evoke the architectural heritage of Italy’s historical buildings.

Open your meal with La Torre’s fried lasagna (S$16), a bite-sized take on the Italian classic.
Lightly coated with panko (Japanese-style) breadcrumbs, each golden piece is crisp on the outside and hides layers of beef ragu, basil-tomato sauce, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese.
Indulgent yet surprisingly light, it’s an addictive start to your Italian feast here.

Of course, pasta is essential. The house-made pinwheel pasta (S$22) stands out for its green hues and eye-catching flower-like shape.
Stuffed with a mildly tangy ricotta filling, and paired with savoury mussels and a white wine sauce, it delivers a bold seafood punch that will win the heart of any seafood lover.

For a heartier classic, the house-made tagliatelle (S$28) doesn’t disappoint — long, flat ribbons of pasta that were satisfyingly al dente.
La Torre’s rendition sees a cloud-like bechamel espuma that lends a gentle creaminess, with the foam softening the acidity of the tomato-based bolognese sauce. A final dusting of grated grana padano ties everything together, making it a comforting, yet elevated take on this well-loved staple.

When it comes to mains, the USDA prime heritage Linz ribeye on the bone “costata” (600g for S$148) is a show-stopper.
Grilled over binchotan charcoal for a smoky finish and buttery tenderness, this well-marbled cut of Australian beef is beautifully cooked to a melt-in-your-mouth texture.
It’s served with three, classic condiments, too — mulberry sea salt, smoked sea salt and salsa verde. In particular, the salsa verde offers a bright, savoury contrast that you can’t go wrong with.

End on a sweet note with La Torre’s housemade burrata gelato with rosemary tuile (S$17) that brings together citrus crumbs, grated parmesan cheese and a drizzle of fig & vincotto (traditional Italian condiment of fig and grape molasses).
Who knew burrata could shine in the form of a dessert?
La Torre proves it can, with a rich, creamy scoop that balances sweet and savoury in all the right ways. Bits of burrata remain in the mix, which lends a lush, almost-cheesecake-like texture that is sure to delight any true cheese lover.
For a brief daytime escape, La Torre offers two- (S$28) or three-course options (S$36) that features your choice of a la carte dishes, and its complimentary bread service — perfect for a casual catch-up or a work lunch.
Unwind with this sea view at La Luna

After dessert, head outdoors to the second half of 1-Alfaro — a rooftop bar concept named La Luna.
If you’re seeking a serene escape from the city’s buzz without missing out on after-hours fun, a breezy, laidback atmosphere awaits at this new spot.
Sink into cushioned armchairs beneath a sheltered canopy or sit on high chairs in the al fresco space, all with a tipple in hand. From sharing cocktail jugs (from S$40) to a glass of housepour wine (from S$12), La Luna is all about enjoying life’s simplest pleasures in life — one sip at a time.
