Your Mother’s House: Keong Saik’s cosy new bar with cocktails & upsized Indomie goreng
Do you remember your younger (and perhaps more immature) days, when your classmates often resorted to playing the “ your mother” card when they couldn’t reasonably win arguments?
Well, here’s a chance to act real mature with your friends when they ask where you guys should go for drinks next!
Simply hit them with: “Your Mother’s House”.

It’s not a joke because there is actually a bar in Singapore with that exact name.
Your Mother’s House is the newest bar opening in Keong Saik which opened in late August, and it sports quite a unique and cheeky name.
If you find the venue familiar, it takes over the unit that once housed the now-defunct No Sleep Club cocktail bar.
It makes a lot of sense when you realise who’s behind it, though.

Helming Your Mother’s House are Bryan Bonifacio and Sheera Rahman, both industry veterans formerly from Employees Only (EO) Singapore, which was ranked No. 17 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars at its peak.
If there’s one thing the Amoy Street bar is notorious for, it’s its rowdy and frenetic energy, with its inebriated crowds belting it out to tunes like The Killers’ Mr Brightside every night, religiously.
With their combined experience at EO Singapore, it’s safe to say that the duo are more than familiar with playfulness and hospitality.

In naming the bar “Your Mother’s House”, both Bryan and Sheena hope to cultivate a warm, welcoming atmosphere — as if guests were actually being hosted at their mothers’ house.
To fit in with their vision, Your Mother’s House has stripped down the old No Sleep Club fittings, which was moodier, opting for a homely vibe with brighter colours, lighting, and plenty of knick knacks.
The duo also admit that they landed on the name partly because it’s a funny moniker that many locals can appreciate.
A bar with good Indomie goreng
Before we talk about any of the cocktails on the Your Mother’s House menu, we want to give a shoutout to its food.

Your Mother’s House serves up some pretty solid bar grub. Its menu is straightforward and compact, offering seven items, with three bigger plates, and four smaller bites.
One of our favourites is the delightfully jazzed-up Indo Mie (S$14).
This might sound like it could be a rather banal dish, but it is actually pretty damn enjoyable.
First, the noodles are well-cooked and satisfyingly seasoned — which says something because even Indomie noodles can be soggy and bland if done badly, okay.

But that’s just the base. What makes this Your Mother’s House Indomie such a hit with the regulars is the portion size — it can easily be shared between two or more people.
On top of that, there are sunny side-ups with jammy yolks, chicken as a protein supplement, and an uber fragrant chilli at the side.
It’s simply immaculate drunk food.
If you still want some carbs but want something less local in scope, Your Mother’s House also has a cajun Chix & shrimp pasta (S$22) on its menu.

This hearty pasta dish features a very addictive cream that’s loaded up with spice notes and capsicum sweetness!
Be careful to not go overboard and order both mains though, since portions are rather decent.
Instead, if you’re still peckish, you can grab the glazed patis wings (S$18).

Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and topped with delectably sharp and piquant patis (Filipino fish sauce)? Basically a perfect dish to pair with the drinks.
Getting tipsy at Your Mother’s House
Okay but before we digress, this is a cocktail bar — so, what about the drinks?
Your Mother’s House’s debut cocktail menu comprises eight different original cocktails, all at at S$23 each. All of them are designed to be easy to drink and are not too heavy on the alcohol, so guests can enjoy themselves without getting too crazy.
Drinks even your mother will enjoy, if we could say so ourselves.

Given the pair’s stint at Employees Only Singapore, they understand the importance of the phrase “simple is best”.
In that regard, Your Mother’s House doesn’t overcomplicate its cocktail offerings, opting instead to keep flavour profiles easily digestible and, oftentimes, light and refreshing.
That holds especially true for the best-seller Rizz (S$23), where the base gin and other ingredients are basically alchemised into a mound of sorbet, and served with a finishing pour of prosecco.
Your Mother’s House based its creation off the Sgroppino, an old-school Italian cocktail that traditionally mixes lemon sorbet with prosecco and vodka.

The process is significantly more complicated than the result, though. And this is a drink with plenty of rizz, alright.
The light botanics of the gin and elderflower meld harmoniously into the vibrance and effervescence of the prosecco, and it’s fun digging into the sorbet!
Similarly, the Gary’s Balding (S$23) is a supremely easy-to-down tipple that has been charming even the hesitant drinkers at Your Mother’s House.

But wait: Who’s Gary, and why is he balding?
No one, really. The name is actually a play on the name of the Garibaldi cocktail, the classic drink it is based on.
Your Mother’s House’s rendition is built on a foundation of Campari, which is then covered with a fluffy orange concoction. The combination results in a citrusy but complex profile, as well as a nice silky mouthfeel!
With a cosy vibe and cocktails priced decently at S$23, you can definitely consider dropping this place as a suggestion when the gang has no idea where to go.
If anything, we’d probably make plans here sometime soon, just to verbalise the “your mother’s house” joke”.
Yes, we’re immature like that.
