Bomul Samgyetang launches Bomul Gelato Bar with six flavours, including kunafa double black chocolate
If you haven’t already heard of Bomul Samgyetang, which opened in Chijmes at the end of last year, it’s one of the few spots in Singapore specialising in Korean ginseng chicken soup.
Now, it’s also jumping onto the Korean gelato trend, with the newly opened Bomul Gelato Bar that’s right outside the OG store.

Previously, Bomul served purely as an indoor restaurant, while the outdoor area served as a waiting space.
If diners wanted gelato, there were only two flavours available, and these could only be ordered from inside the restaurant.
Now, the former waiting area operates as Bomul Gelato Bar, where customers can enjoy their gelato.

The indoor restaurant is reserved for diners having a full meal, though gelato guests can try requesting an indoor seat during off-peak hours.
Six mouthwatering flavours

With the launch of Bomul Gelato Bar, the restaurant has expanded its gelato selection to six flavours in total. Four of these are new, Korean hanbang-inspired creations, which draw on traditional herbal ingredients used in Korean wellness, alongside its existing flavours — signature black sesame and ginseng.
Each scoop of gelato is priced at S$7, with each serving weighing around 280g.

First up is its most eye-catching flavour — kunafa double black chocolate. If you’re obsessed with the kunafa trend, like I am, this one’s a must-try.
The chocolate gelato is already rich and intense on its own, while the kunafa topping adds a delicate sweetness and crunch. Honestly, I needed seconds.
It’s also only available for a limited time, so that’s definitely the one to try.

Another highlight was the mulberry & bay leaf sorbet, which delivered a refreshing, fruity flavour. It’s a great option for those who enjoy berry-rich desserts.

The other flavours impressed us equally — the roasted Bronte pistachio gelato stood out for its deep, nutty richness, with the pistachio flavour coming through beautifully without being overly sweet.

Meanwhile, the chrysanthemum & goji berry flavour was a pleasant surprise. It tasted lightly floral, with the subtle sweetness of the goji berries balancing it out nicely.

And of course, its original black sesame gelato remains a classic that you can’t go wrong with — rich, nutty and wonderfully aromatic.
The ginseng gelato, however, might be more polarising. Its ginseng flavours come through, all right. It’s definitely an acquired taste that fans of herbal flavours might enjoy and it somehow still works!

If you need even more reason to pop by, there’s Bomul Gelato Tuesday, where gelato cups go for just S$1 every Tuesday, from March 17 to April 28, between 2pm and 5pm. This is limited to the first 300 cups per day, though!
This was a hosted tasting.
