A Slow Cup is a cosy coffee spot within a nail salon at The Cathay
Retail-cafe hybrids are on the rise in Singapore, with spots such as Takara House and Blue Bottle Coffee’s maiden Singapore store within Lumine at Raffles City.
Also on the list is A Slow Cup, a coffee spot tucked inside Painted Nail Bar, which recently relocated from Robertson Walk to The Cathay.
Even though it’s a shared space, the cafe is open to all and you don’t need a manicure booking to snag a seat!

Run by the team behind the nail salon, A Slow Cup serves up speciality brews in a petite, yet cosy space.
Warm wooden accents and linen drapes set a chill escape from the city rush. Its quiet and quaint location on the top floor of The Cathay adds to the laidback charm, too.
Though seating is limited, with a few high chairs and low stools, A Slow Cup at The Cathay does feel best suited for a brief recharge instead of a slow afternoon spent over some brews.
You’re also welcome to grab a cuppa before or after your nail appointment with Painted Nail Bar.
Solid brews done right!

A Slow Cup’s menu is short and sweet, mainly featuring espresso-based coffee, along with a handful of non-caffeinated beverages and bakes.
You can’t go wrong with the hot white (S$6), made with Flip Coffee Roaster’s blend of Brazil and Colombia beans.
It’s one of the smoothest, well-balanced lattes I’ve had in a hot minute — the espresso complements beautifully with the natural sweetness of the milk foam.
Non-coffee drinkers can opt for the iced matcha latte (S$7.50), crafted using homegrown brand Matsu Matcha. Light and slightly sweetened, it’s an easy sip, especially for matcha beginners.
Other picks include the slow Einspanner (S$7.50), iced strawberry latte (S$8.50), and chai latte (S$6).

To pair with your drinks, A Slow Cup offers a small selection of savoury and sweet bakes.
The smoked sea salt choc chip cookie (S$6) is a must-have — crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside — the perfect treat to sweeten up your day!

Or, if you don’t have a sweet tooth, savoury options include the roasted tomato brie tartine with pistachio and basil crema (S$6.50). Its buttery pastry pairs nicely with the mildly tangy notes.
If you’ve got a moment to spare, A Slow Cup at The Cathay is worth swinging by for a quick pick-me-up before diving back into your computer screen.
