Being able to enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea in Singapore is an absolutely enviable thing.

Think sandwiches, cakes, scones, pastries both sweet and savoury to tea-se your tastebuds, along with a select choice of premium teas or coffee if you’d prefer. Not forgetting slow and meaningful conversations with compa-tea-ble companions — tt is an indulgence that everyone should have the opportunity to delight in, whether it’s on a weekend or on an afternoon off work.

Other than the chic lobby lounges across the island’s stylish hotels, there are many other gems that are worth a visit if you ever do get the chance to indulge in an afternoon tea.

Here are 14 of the best afternoon tea spots in Singapore that are the cream of the crop.

Editor’s note: All prices listed are before taxes and service charges.

1. Atlas

Why visit? Enjoy your afternoon tea luxuriating in the glamourous style of the 1920s Art Deco architecture-inspired Atlas, which calls itself a grand lobby and bar. Under this grand and opulent backdrop, relish in a delectable European medley of sweet and savoury bites, complemented with a fine tea selection.

Because each component of ATLAS’ afternoon tea is hand-made to order, reservations are required at least 24 hours beforehand. For those with dietary preferences, a vegetarian menu as well as a gluten-free menu are also available.

Also, you cannot spell Atlas without “atas” so you can be sure of the quality, as well as the chi-chi vibes you’d be getting there.

It is a great place to slow down for an afternoon tea after a day out exploring the city or a morning of intense shopping at The Shoppes.

Situated right beside Goodwood Park Hotel lobby and by the poolside, you will be treated to a sumptuous spread of English and European classics that include salads, sandwiches, savouries, pastries, scones and desserts. What makes this high tea especially special is that One-Ninety Bar serves up a Peranakan afternoon tea. Not just any ol’ Peranakan fare, but its fare is done up in collaboration with Candlenut, which is said to be the world’s first Michelin-starred Peranakan restaurant.

Weaving traditional Peranakan ingredients such as cassava, chempedak, and lemongrass into sophisticated and mouth-watering sweets and savouries is certainly an art form to be appreciated.
