Taste test: Shake Shack fans, the Shackmeister is back in Singapore in all its fried-shalloty glory
Every fast food joint has a limited-time special that becomes a cult favourite for many of its fans.
For example, McDonald’s has the McGriddles. KFC has the Cheesy Meltz. For Shake Shack Singapore, it might be the Shackmeister burger.
If you are one of the devout supporters of the ShackMeister burger and have been yearning for Shake Shack Singapore to bring it back, 2025 is the year.
It’s officially back — it’ll be available for a limited time from Jan 16, at all of Shake Shack’s Singapore locations.
Fried shallot overload
The Shackmeister was first released in Singapore in 2020 as a limited-time special, coinciding with the opening of its Suntec City outlet — its fourth store locally.
It’s actually a burger with quite a bit of history, dating all the way back to 2015, before Shake Shack even found its way to Singapore.
If you haven’t tried it before, you can now snag yourself the Shackmeister burger in either its single (S$11.80) or double (S$15.70) form.
The burger’s main draw is its unique topping of crunchy fried shallots that are marinated in ShakeShack’s very own Shackmeister ale.
These golden-brown morsels introduce a mix of allium fragrance and textural contrast to complement the beef patty — very satisfying.
Alternatively, according to ShakeShack, the Shackmeister fried shallots are a perfect pairing with any of their burgers. You might want to jazz up your favourite Shake Shack burgers such as the SmokeShack (from S$12.10) or the cheesy Shroom Burger (S$11.90), by adding shallots (S$1.30 top-up).
Besides burgers, Shake Shack also offers the Shackmeister fries (S$7.50) and Shackmeister dog (S$8.20).
The hotdog comes with a cheesy hotdog and the same fluffy potato buns. With the addition of the fried shallots, it makes for a decent hotdog with extra crunch and flavour.
On the other hand, the fries are just topped with the fried shallots, so it doesn’t really feel like it changes much about the dish. But it’s still decent, if you enjoy a bit of extra crunch and fragrance in your fries.
If you find yourself craving some burgers on a cheat day, we say you should head to Shake Shack for a Shackmeister burger before it’s gone!
