Pull-Tab Coffee brings back the whipped coffee nostalgia with its first Singapore outlet

Remember the dalgona coffee trend during the Covid-19 Circuit Breaker? It’s that frothy, whipped coffee made with just instant coffee, sugar, and milk that trended for its easy-to-make appeal at home.
Pull-Tab Coffee, which launched in 2021, took this concept and turned it into its signature. Known for its Aerofoam coffee, the brand originated in China, quickly gained popularity, and has even expanded to the United States.
And now, it’s made its way to Singapore.

Located at The Metropolis near Buona Vista MRT, the outlet is currently in its soft launch phase, with its grand opening set for tomorrow (June 3).
There’s also a cosy sitting area tucked behind the counter, if you’d like to linger over your coffee and toast.

The menu at Pull-Tab Coffee offers a wide range of coffee drinks from its signature Aerofoam varieties and more familiar options such as lattes and cappuccino. You’ll also find some butter toasts and a modest selection of pastries on display.
Prices are slightly steeper than your average kopi joint, but given the brand’s viral appeal, it’s not unexpected.

My top pick would have to be the mocha Aerofoam coffee (S$7.80).
The cup comes with simple instructions: Sip it without a straw at first, allowing the thick foam to meet the milk coffee beneath. Then, stir it through with a straw and enjoy the mix.
The foam itself has a thick consistency that is rich and boldly bitter. It is quickly balanced out by the sweet, chilled milk coffee underneath. With the chocolate bits on top, it all comes together as a bittersweet, pick-me-up that hits just right in the morning.

If you prefer something more straightforward, get the iced classic Aerofoam coffee (S$5.80 for medium, S$6.80 for large), made with the same signature foam. It’s a dependable option that is just as indulgent.
For the citrus lovers, the iced orange americano (S$5.80 for medium, S$6.80 for large) offers a tangy, refreshing twist. The citrus cuts cleanly through the bitterness of the espresso nicely, especially when well-stirred, making for a zesty, balanced drink that gives your morning a sharp jolt.

You’ll also find butter toasts on the menu, including a classic kaya butter toast (S$2.80) and a kaya peanut butter toast (S$3.80). They are simple, light sides to complement your coffee.
Give in to your instincts and dip your toasts in the foam, it works really well.

Though the slab of butter looks dramatically thick, there’s actually far less of it once you sink your teeth into it.
That said, the kaya peanut butter toast was decent. We would have appreciated a stronger peanut flavour in the spread and perhaps a bit more texture, but the bread is nicely toasted with a satisfying crunch.
The butter toast might not be the main attraction here, but they round out your breakfast well, if you’re already getting the coffee.
Before the queues start forming, you might want to drop by. Or if you’re like me, to relive the dalgona coffee craze!
