Pizza Hut Singapore is raising the bar — and the crust —  with its first-ever sourdough pizza range, launching May 22, with six new flavours to choose from.

Unlike its usual pan crusts (which are thicker, softer, and slightly greasier), its new sourdough base is said to be lighter, airier, and comes with a crisp golden finish.

The sourdough base is made with a 48-hour fermented dough that delivers a fluffier middle, crispier edge, and a richer, more artisanal flavour profile. The sourdough element also adds a subtle tang and texture to the pizzas.

Of the six brand-new flavours it is introducing, four are only exclusively available for dine-in.

Trying Pizza Hut’s new sourdough pizzas

Ahead of its launch, we were able to try all six new sourdough pizza flavours and there were some clear standabouts.

My personal favourite off the bat had to be the truffle shroom “N” chicken bacon (from S$23.80), layered with rich truffle aioli, smoky chicken bacon, juicy mushrooms, and a decadent mix of mozzarella and shredded parmesan cheese.

It was savoury, decadently creamy, and layered with just the right amount of truffle.

The cheesy spinach (from S$23.80) is a meat-free option that’s just as satisfying as its meaty counterparts, with the garlicky spinach adding plenty of flavour. The ricotta also gives it a nice creaminess without being too heavy.

Pizza Hut’s dine-in sourdough exclusives

Moving onto its dine-in-exclusive flavours, the sunkissed tomato chicken (from S$23.80) was a refreshing change from the heavier, cheese-forward flavours.

It comes with tangy sundried tomato sauce, juicy roasted chicken chunks, sweet cherry tomatoes, and a melty mix of mozzarella and shredded parmesan.

Next, the salmon & wildrocket (from S$23.80) was another standout that was refreshing, filling yet not too cloying. The brininess of the smoked salmon contrasted well with the fresh rocket leaves and hints of lemon.

While the new sourdough range pizzas are clearly the headlining acts, Pizza Hut Singapore has also rolled out its first full dine-in menu refresh since the pandemic, with refreshed items such as appetisers, pastas, baked rice, and drinks.

There’s the Crispy Hut platter (from S$13.95), which includes deep-fried crowd-favour snacks such as potato wedges, popcorn chicken, cheese sticks, and chicken tenders, that are great for sharing round the table.

If you’re not feeling like pizza, it also has new mains such as the creamy chilli shrimp pasta (from S$15.95), which comes with a generous smattering of shrimp and tomatoes, as well as a mild spice kick.

Of its new drink introductions, the strawberry lychee fruit tea (S$3.50) was easily my favourite beverage with its fruity and light profile — the perfect complement to a cheese- and carb-heavy meal.

In conjunction with its menu refresh, Pizza Hut is having a promotion till June 4 for the takeaway & delivery exclusive flavours — the truffle shroom ‘N’ chicken bacon or cheesy spinach sourdough pizzas are going for just S$12 each and can be purchased via in-person takeaway, or through delivery.

If you prefer to enjoy these in-store, you can also enjoy 50% off selected items, including the dine-in-exclusive new sourdough pizzas, available till June 22.

While its new sourdough offerings had its fair share of hits and misses, the new sourdough range brings a lighter, more artisanal twist to Pizza Hut’s usual offerings. The hand-stretched crust — crisp on the outside, light and slightly tangy within — adds a distinct texture and taste that sets it apart from the classic pan pizzas.

If you’re a fan of sourdough or a longtime Pizza Hut lover just curious to try something different, these new pizzas are worth a try.

This was a hosted tasting.
