Samurai burger is back, with an all-new shoyu mayo sauce that’s changing the game

To all the McDonald’s Samurai burger fans: There’s something new — and seriously saucy — to get excited about.

The Samurai burger’s yearly comeback is always a big deal. And it’s that time of the year again — from October 2 — but this time, there’s a twist.

Enter the shoyu mayo Samurai burger and its eggy sibling, the tamago shoyu mayo Samurai burger — both available in chicken and beef.

We got a sneak peek before it drops for real this Thursday and here’s what we think: This might just be one of the better limited-time menu items we’ve had in a while from McDonald’s Singapore.

And yes, it’s 100% because of that all-new shoyu mayo sauce.

The beef Samurai burger was already a fan-favourite, thanks to its sweet-savoury teriyaki glaze, but the shoyu mayo sauce takes it to the next level.

The shoyu mayo Samurai beef burger (from S$8.50 for a meal) is creamy and savoury, with just enough tang to cut through its beef patty. The whole burger comes together as one glorious umami bomb.

There’s also the tamago shoyu mayo Samurai chicken burger (from S$9.50 for a meal) — and it does come in beef, too.

The egg tucked inside adds a subtle sweetness and a rich, gooey bite that pairs perfectly with the shoyu mayo. Every mouthful is an indulgent one.

The Oishii pepper drumlets (from S$3.35) are back, too. Bite-sized, peppery little drumlets that are savoury and quite addictive.

You know the drill. Samurai season isn’t complete without these iconic, green-dusted seaweed McShaker fries (extra S$1.25 to upsize your meal) — salty, crunchy, and ridiculously snackable.

Round out your meal with the returning matcha soft-serve (from S$1.30) — creamy, smooth, and bittersweet. It might be the perfect way to cut through all that savoury goodness.

You can have it whatever form you desire — in a cone, as a sundae, or even as a matcha Oreo McFlurry.

Here’s the best part: You don’t actually have to wait until October 2 to try these. You can already find them at the following outlets, if you head down right now:

  • McDonald’s Queensway
  • Waterway Point
  • Canberra Plaza
  • Our Tampines Hub

Just order from the self-ordering kiosk or the McDonald’s app, and you’re set!

This was an invited tasting.
