A birthday cake is one of the most symbolic ways to mark another year around the sun. More than just dessert, it often becomes part of the shared memories made with your nearest and dearest. Given that it’s usually the centrepiece of the celebration, having a birthday cake that looks as good as it tastes is always a welcome touch.
While there’s no shortage of birthday cakes in Singapore, finding one that truly stands out — whether in flavour, texture, or design — can feel a little overwhelming. That’s where we come in.
Here are 18 places in Singapore where you can find the birthday cake of your dreams.
1. Fieldnotes

It’s hardly an exaggeration to say that Fieldnotes’ cakes are stunning. Simple, elegant, and nature-inspired, they not only look beautiful but also deliver on flavour. Fruits are often the star here, elevated with thoughtful pairings of natural, wholesome ingredients.
You can tell the cakes are crafted with care, too, with light, airy sponge layers and luscious fresh cream coming together in every slice.
Crowd favourites: Honestly, it’s hard to go wrong here. The guava lychee cake (from S$38 for a 10cm cake that feeds two) is one of its bestsellers, pairing guava Chantilly cream with bits of lychee for a fruity sweetness that never feels over the top.
Another favourite is the honey yuzu cake (from S$42 for a 19cm cake that feeds two), which balances delicate honey notes with a light, refreshing citrusy tang.
2. Nesuto

Nesuto brings together the best of French pastry techniques and Japanese flavours, thanks to co-founder and pastry chef Alicia Wong, formerly of Capella Hotel and also a guest judge on MasterChef Singapore.
At Nesuto, diners are treated to visually stunning cakes with inventive flavour combinations — and we’d argue they taste even better than they look.
Crowd favourites: Its bestseller is the Konichiwa hojicha (from S$53 for a 10cm cake), where the deep roasted aroma of hojicha pairs beautifully with lightly sweet hojicha cream and ganache.
For something more indulgent, try the whiskey chocolate cake (S$89 for a 16cm cake), a decadent combination of rich chocolate, whiskey, and a gentle touch of cinnamon spice.
If you want some bubbly, vino, or sake to celebrate with, the brand also offers a 15% discount off bottles when you order a cake.
We visited one of Nesuto’s newest outlets at Marina Bay Sands.
3. Chalk Farm

Chalk Farm has come a long way from its humble beginnings as an online venture in late 2010, when it started with just two items on the menu.
Today, it offers a wide range of elegant yet unfussy cakes that are sure to whet your appetite. Among its repertoire are creations infused with local flavours such as pulut hitam, gula melaka, and pandan. Chalk Farm gives these nostalgic favourites a modern twist, and serves them up alongside inventive flavour combinations.
Crowd favourites: If you’re a fan of salted caramel and red velvet flavours, the salted caramel red velvet cake (from S$120 for regular 9” square cake that serves 12), which combines both classics, is a must-try.
For something a little more unconventional — or if you happen to be getting a birthday cake for someone who loves their Nyonya kuehs — the Kueh Salat (from S$84 for regular 9” cake that serves 12) cake or the Durian Salat (S$176 for 2.5kg cake that serves 12) cake is a delightful kueh-cake hybrid that’s bound to surprise your guests.
4. Queic by Olivia

Wondering how to pronounce the name “Queic”? Just say the word “cake” out loud! Queic by Olivia was born from the acclaimed Olivia Restaurant & Lounge, long known for its glorious cheesecakes.
Thanks to these unapologetically indulgent creations, Queic by Olivia now stands as a dessert haven dedicated entirely to artisanal cheesecakes, each with its own distinct twists and flavour profiles.
Crowd favourites: Naturally, the must-order here is Olivia’s signature cheesecake (from S$59 for a six-inch cake that feeds two to three), with its silky, molten centre made from a blend of cream cheese and blue cheese for a uniquely rich flavour.
If you prefer something milder in cheesiness, go for the chocolate coulant cheesecake (from S$63 for a six-inch cake that feeds four to five), a rich and decadent chocolate-forward treat that still delivers a satisfying hint of cheese.
We tried its cakes at its Jewel Changi outlet and we had some favourites!
5. Creme Maison Bakery

If you’re looking for birthday cakes in Singapore that are specially tailored for the occasion, Creme Maison Bakery stands out for its spectacular customised and themed cakes for all ages. With quality ingredients, recipes that are lower in sugar, and options for nut-free, alcohol-free, or halal-friendly cakes, alongside some seriously adorable designs, it’s especially popular among parents with young children.
Its cakes certainly do not come cheap, but the immense attention to detail — paired with flavours that taste just as good as the cakes look — makes the splurge feel worthwhile.
Crowd favourites: Creme Maison Bakery offers a huge range of whole cakes in all shapes, sizes, and designs (from S$62.80 onwards for a simple strawberry coquette cake) so it’s hard to pick a favourite.
Across many of its creations, you’ll also get to choose your preferred flavour for the cake base. Some of its most popular options include Belgium chocolate s’mores, raspberry lychee rose, and roasted hojicha chrysanthemum.
6. Delcie’s Desserts and Cakes

For birthday cakes in Singapore that cater to those with dietary restrictions, Delcie’s Desserts and Cakes is a strong choice. Named after its founder Delcie, the bakery is passionate about creating healthier treats for all ages through its wide range of bakes.
Halal-certified and offering options that are vegan, diabetic-friendly, gluten-free, dairy-free, eggless, low-carb, and more — there’s truly something for everyone here. Best of all, while the cakes are made healthier, you’d hardly be able to taste the difference.
Crowd favourites: Its mud fudge cake (from S$106.82 for a five-inch cake) is an eggless cake that is both vegan and diabetic-friendly. Made with high-quality 74% dark chocolate couverture, the cake turns wonderfully molten and moist when enjoyed warm.
Another popular pick is the Red Forest cake (from S$95.92 for a five-inch cake), a baby-friendly creation layered with vanilla sponge, cream, and juicy strawberry chunks. It’s eggless, dairy-free, nut-free, diabetic-friendly, too, so we can see everyone at the party enjoying this without worries.
7. Atipico Atelier

Atipico Atelier feels a little like a well-kept secret, but those familiar with it rarely hesitate to rave about its cakes. Well, the secret’s out now that we’ve got this in writing — but we had to because it’s simply too good to gate keep!
The cakes here showcase the beauty of French and Italian pastry techniques and ingredients, resulting in creations that feel more refined and distinctive than the usual birthday cakes in Singapore. Expect intricate layers, contrasting textures, and flavour combinations that come together surprisingly well.
Crowd favourites: Its bestseller is the Rock ‘N Roll (from S$55 for a 16cm cake that feeds five to seven), loved for its well-balanced richness and nuttiness, with smooth chocolate ganache paired against a hazelnut dacquoise base.
Another much-loved creation is the French Kiss (from S$58 for a 16cm cake that feeds five to seven), which melds a mascarpone-pistachio cremeux with raspberry confit on top of a pistachio-almond cream base.
8. Plain Vanilla

Plain Vanilla may have started out as an artisanal cupcake bakery way back in 2011, but its whole cakes have also earned a loyal following over the years.
Much like its cupcakes, the cakes here carry a rustic elegance — natural-looking beauties dressed in warm, earthy tones that feel quietly comforting. And if you’ve had its cupcakes before, you’ll already know the cakes do not fall short on flavour either.
Plain Vanilla also rolls out seasonal specials from time to time, so it’s worth keeping an eye on its socials for limited-time creations.
Crowd favourites: Plain Vanilla’s black forest cake (from S$49.05 for a four-inch cake that feeds four to six) is a classic done exceptionally well. The sponge layers are brushed with brandy and rum, then layered with brandied cherries and fresh Chantilly cream for a rich yet balanced finish.
Another favourite is the carrot cake (from S$45.78 for a four-inch cake that feeds four to six), essentially a larger and prettier version of its beloved carrot cupcake. Made with spiced carrot cake, walnuts, sultanas, and cream cheese frosting, it also feels a little lighter than your typical celebration cake.
9. Rive Gauche

Rive Gauche — which means “left bank” in French — takes inspiration from the iconic Left Bank of the Seine River in Paris, long associated with culture, artistry, and sophistication. Since opening in 1993, the Singapore patisserie has sought to bring a touch of French flair to local shores through handcrafted bakes made with premium ingredients.
Its creations may not be overly flashy, but that’s precisely the charm. Rive Gauche focuses on doing the classics exceptionally well, and many of its cakes have become staples at birthday celebrations over the years.
Crowd favourites: The undisputed favourite is the Guanaja cake (from S$52 for a 12cm by 12cm cake that feeds five to six), a recognisable signature since it opened that’s loved by many. Layered with Valrhona Guanaja chocolate and mousse, it is deeply rich and indulgent, while the feuilletine base adds a satisfying crunch.
In contrast, the white peach strawberry cake (S$45 for a 500g cake) leans lighter and is more refreshing. It combines white peach jelly and white peach mousse wrapped in strawberry sponge for an elegant, fruity finish on the palate.
10. Bob the Baker Boy

Necessity is the mother of invention, they say — Bob the Baker Boy saw just the opportunity to make birthday cakes in Singapore a lot more fun, and went ahead and did it. Beyond eye-catching customisations, the bakery is also known for its bold, interactive cake designs that surprise and delight.
If you’re after something memorable, this is the place for it: Think money-pulling cakes, burn-away cakes, bubble tea cakes, or even gravity-defying beer can cakes. With hundreds of designs to browse and plenty of room for customisation, there’s bound to be something that catches your eye.
Crowd favourites: Standard birthday cakes (from S$59.90 for a six-inch cake) are available, but customised cakes let you choose from a wide range of flavours. Some of the most popular include its signature 55% Belgian chocolate, chocolate hazelnut, and signature pandan ondeh ondeh.
Many of its cakes also come with a thoughtful birthday essentials kit that includes plates, forks, napkins, and matches, on top of the usual candle and knife — a small touch that goes a long way.
11. Edith Patisserie

Named after one of its co-founders’ mother, Edith Patisserie has been crafting elegant bakes since 2018. The bakery embodies elegance in simplicity, while remaining committed to making its cakes accessible to all. Taking an inclusive approach, it offers options for those with special dietary requirements, ensuring more people can enjoy its aesthetically pleasing and delicious creations. Some cakes are even entirely sugar-free.
With a huge variety of standard and customised bakes available, you’ll certainly be spoilt for choice here.
Crowd favourites: Its earl grey lavender cake (from S$54.30 for a four-inch cake that feeds two to three) is one of the bakery’s bestselling standard creations. This lilac-hued beauty features earl grey chiffon sponge layered with lavender-infused buttercream.
Another hot favourite is the yuzu osmanthus cake (from S$58 for a four-inch cake that feeds two to three), which pairs yuzu-infused vanilla sponge with delicate osmanthus cream for a fragrant, citrusy combination that feels beautifully balanced.
12. The Patissier

Founded in 2000, The Patissier is a local boutique bakery known for marrying traditional French pastry techniques with bold, fruit-forward flavours. All its bakes are handcrafted using quality ingredients, resulting in cakes that are both visually striking and elegantly balanced in flavour — perfect for milestone celebrations and grand birthday gatherings alike.
Crowd favourites: One of its signature creations is the passion fruit meringue with fruits (from S$68.67 for a 15cm round cake). While it may sound like a simple fruit cake, it’s far more layered than that, literally. It has an airy meringue that adds a delicate crunchy-chewy texture, while the tangy passionfruit mousse brings a bright burst of flavour.
The bakery is also renowned for its stunning croquembouche cakes (from S$174.40 for 40 puffs), a glamorous cone-shaped tower of French profiteroles that is almost guaranteed to impress guests at any birthday celebration.
13. Cat & the Fiddle

Specialising in gourmet cheesecakes and dishing up more than 20 variations, Cat & the Fiddle is the brainchild of renowned pastry chef and entrepreneur Daniel Tay. This halal-certified cheesecake brand not only honours classic cheesecake flavours, but also continually reinvents itself with creative new flavours, many of them inspired by Asian tastes.
With eight outlets across Singapore, as well as shops in Indonesia, and Malaysia, its growth across the region is a testament to the calibre of its cheesecakes that strike a satisfying balance of creaminess, tartness, and sweetness.
Crowd favourites: The eye-catching Fickle Feline cheesecake and Fickle Feline 2.0 cheesecake (S$58.90) each feature a combination of 10 different flavours, making them perfect for anyone who struggles to choose, or for a party of everyone who likes a bit of everything.
For something with a local twist, the milo dinosaur cheesecake (S$48.90) delivers a rich, chocolatey, malt-forward flavour that is definitely “gao” enough to satisfy.
We visited one of Cat & the Fiddle’s newest outlets at Westgate.
14. Lana Cakes

Lana Cakes is an old-school gem steeped in nostalgia, with generations of customers returning for the same comforting flavours. Established in 1964, it is best known for its homemade, no-frills chocolate fudge cake, a version that many Singaporeans grew up with. For the older generation especially, it tastes like childhood — a flavour of yesteryear that is increasingly hard to find today.
Crowd favourites: Ordering at Lana Cakes is wonderfully straightforward because the bakery is best known for just one thing: Its classic chocolate cake (from S$64 for a 6.5-inch by 9.5-inch cake that feeds eight to ten). Expect moist, fluffy chocolate chiffon generously coated with its signature rich chocolate fudge frosting.
There are other flavours, too, such as yuzu and blueberry ones, but trust us and stick to the chocolate — it’s a decades-old recipe that’s well-loved for good reason.
The cakes come in a variety of sizes, but if you’re planning to order a larger cake, it’s best to place your order at least three to five working days in advance.
15. Cedele

Cedele has long been a stalwart in Singapore’s birthday cake scene, with more than two decades of experience under its belt. The bakery is well known for creating wholesome cakes made with natural ingredients — only organic unrefined sugar is used, and nothing is artificially processed. Beyond its standard cakes, it also offers eggless and vegan options.
While it may feel a little commercialised these days, the convenience of its many outlets (22 and counting) still makes it an easy and reliable choice for a solid birthday cake that you can get for a celebration at any time.
Crowd favourites: Its carrot walnut cake (from S$68 for a seven-inch cake) remains one of the bakery’s most enduring favourites and is a familiar sight across its storefronts. The carrot cake itself is moist, the cream cheese frosting restrained in sweetness, and the exterior generously coated with walnuts.
Another understated crowd-pleaser is the mango lassi cake (from S$52 for a six-inch cake), especially for fruit lovers. Layered with mango cream and fresh mango chunks, it’s finished with a luscious yoghurt frosting for a refreshing touch.
16. D9 Cakery

D9 Cakery sits on the lobby level of Voco Orchard Singapore, making it hard to miss with its impressive display of sweets and pastries. Offering a selection of artfully crafted whole cakes, it’s a convenient and reliable option for birthday cakes, especially if you’re around Orchard Road.
Here, classic bakes are elevated with refined techniques, inventive touches, and well-balanced flavour profiles that feel a little more luxurious than the usual celebration cake.
Crowd favourites: D9 Cakery’s signature double chocolate cake (S$75 for a 1kg cake) is the ultimate treat for chocolate lovers, layering moist yoghurt cocoa sponge with two types of premium Valrhona chocolate. Look out, too, for the subtle hints of passionfruit woven through the richness.
Another one to try is the signature classic American cheesecake (from S$65 for a 800g cake), which pays homage to a decades-old recipe and uses100% Philadelphia cream cheese for maximum richness and creaminess.
17. Butter Studio

Specialising in handcrafted and customised cakes, the halal-certified Butter Studio, which has been around since 2011, pairs delightful flavours with creative designs tailored to all sorts of occasions.
The variety here is impressively diverse, showcasing everything from elegant and rustic creations to whimsical, minimalist, colourful, and fully themed cakes.
Crowd favourites: Its salted caramel red velvet cake (from S$49.80 for a six-inch cake) has long been a favourite, combining classic red velvet and cream cheese with a generous topping of housemade sea salt caramel sauce. It’s sweet, rich, and thoroughly indulgent.
For something lighter, try the Lady Ispahan cake (from S$49.80 for a six-inch cake), a delicate yet indulgent combination of rose, lychee, and raspberry flavours.
18. Swensen’s

If you’re looking for an ice-cream birthday cake in Singapore, Swensen’s is an easy go-to. With outlets conveniently located across the island and halal certification to boot, it’s especially popular for school celebrations and family gatherings. And well, with it being made of ice cream — you already know it’ll be a hit with kids.
Its cakes are reasonably priced for their size, striking a pleasant balance between creamy ice cream and soft sponge cake. With plenty of designs and flavour combinations to choose from, including options to customise your preferred ice cream flavours, these cakes are guaranteed crowd-pleasers.
Crowd favourites: Its mao shan wang with sea salt gula melaka ice cream cake (from S$66 for a 500g cake) is instantly recognisable, shaped just like a durian complete with thorns and stem. Slice into it and you’ll be rewarded with luscious durian ice cream within.
You also can’t go wrong with the classic cookies ’n cream ice cream cake (from S$55 for a 1kg cake). Not only is this flavour a perennial favourite, but you can even pair it with another ice cream flavour of your choice.
