Taste test: New KFC Pockett wraps with all-new spicy and cheesy flavours

For those unfamiliar, the KFC Pocketts are a series of wraps from the fast-food brand that feature its signature Zinger fillet wrapped up in a toasted tortilla.

These are similar to the now-defunct classic Bandito Pocket, which was Mexican-inspired, with zesty salsa and mayonnaise.
Available from Mar 27 to Apr 29, the KFC Trio Pocketts series consist of three flavours: Classic barbecue, as well as new cheesy and spicy variations.

Of course, we had to get our hands on these KFC Pocketts to see how the wraps fared.
First up had to be the signature BBQ Pockett (S$7.45), loaded up with lettuce, barbecue sauce and mayo and wrapped in a toasted tortilla.
The Zinger patty was still tender and juicy with that satisfying Zinger marinade and the barbecue sauce was nicely rich and tangy with a hint of spice — very classic.
Moving on to the newer KFC Pocketts, there was the spicy Pockett (S$7.60), which came in a striking orange-hued tomato basil tortilla and stuffed with fresh lettuce, barbecued tortilla chips and spicy barbecue sauce.
By contrast, the spicy version turns the heat up more — compared to the hint of spice in the classic version, that is — while still retaining a nice dose of that tangy, smoky barbecue flavour.
The tortilla chips were already soft after delivery but we imagine it would provide a nice textural contrast when eaten hot.
Finally, there’s the cheesy Pockett (S$7.60) comprising a medley of lettuce, mayo, sliced cheese, and cheese sauce.
This is the KFC Pockett made for cheese lovers: It’s more of a rich, straightforward indulgence with a creamy cheese sauce that pairs nicely with the Zinger patty.
If you’re interested to try out the new KFC Pockett options, they will be available for dine-in and takeaway at all KFC outlets, except at KFC Sentosa and the Singapore Zoo.
