| Service wasn't bad, but could have been better
Let me just begin by saying that the food was quite delicious. The churros got high marks by everyone. It was nicely chewy and not overly sweet. The accompanying chocolate dip was satisfyingly thick and complemented the churros very well. Empanadas were also very tasty, and the Indian waiter really made the effort by offering to give us 2 tuna and 2 chicken ones when he realised it was the first time we were having them. We also sampled the bikinis which were pretty good but we weren't blown away.
Okay, here's the tricky part. The service was very friendly. A tad too friendly perhaps. The waiter kept trying to make conversation with us, which was fine I guess, if it was for a few minutes, but basically he was there about 80% of the time we stayed there, talking to us. Plus he messed up one of our orders, but wouldn't do anything to rectify his mistake or even admit he was wrong in the first place. Basically the my friend wanted to order a mocktail and ordered one accordingly called a strawberry daiquiri. Instead of serving us a mocktail, he gave us a cocktail, which had alcohol. It wasn't after we'd tasted the cocktail (all of us sampled a bit to be sure), that we realised it was a wrong item, so we asked if we could change the drink. Essentially what the waiter said was if we wanted the mocktail, we should not say strawberry daiqiuri, just say mocktail. How exactly we were supposed to say which mocktail we wanted, he was unclear.
I believe that the waiter had just failed to clarify whether the strawberry daiquiri was supposed to be a cocktail or a mocktail before processing the order but we did point towards the menu that clearly stated "Mocktail - Strawberry Daiquiri...". Oh well.
Even though it was just this one thing, it put quite a damper on our evening because of the price difference between the cocktail ($12) and the mocktail ($4.50). I think a kind gesture of offering to change it for a mocktail would have gone a looong way with us. |

Dear agentbristow04,
First of all, I would like to wish you a Happy New Year and thank you for dropping by our Spanish street food outlet.
In regards to the "friendly waiter", I would like to apologise if we were being too intrusive. We at Alegro believe that you should come in groups of twos and leave in groups of fours. Our philosophy is to create a friendly environment where everyone can come and make friends and by no means did we mean to intrude on your privacy. I apologise once again if we did.
On your drink, I would like to apologise for the misunderstanding. There is no reason why you should not have had the drinks changed when the error was discovered and I will have a word with my staff about that.
Having said that, I am glad that you enjoyed the food and I hope that you will return again soon. Do check out our HungryGoWhere.com deals for this month and visit us on Mondays when its buy one get two cocktails free per person!
Yours Sincerely,
Jaime
